Whoo

This weekend I attended a beautiful baby shower. It was a lovely afternoon full of yummy cake, silly games and baby chatter. For the soon to arrive little one I made the above owl (with some valuable assistance from my Mum). The main body fabrics are by Kaffe Fassett, he produces some of the most inspiring patterns and colour combinations.

Soggy Sydney

I'll be escaping soggy central Sydney for a girls weekend hosted by a wonderful friend in Avalon followed by a week in Kiama with my family. I do like to be beside the seaside...

Getting crafty

Yesterday I had the most delightful day crafting with friends. We stenciled and stitched some little bonds clothing to create some fun and colourful baby outfits for my pregnant friend's impending arrival.

Staying with friends

 

On an adventure as long as ours it was so important for us to stop somewhere for a substantial amount of time to prevent travel weariness. It was such a joy to stay with friends for a week in Birmingham. 

We got to sleep in a normal house, eat home cooked meals and even watch some trashy tv! But most of all we were able to catch up with our friends and experience their life on the other side of the globe. Not only did we relax around the house but the four of us ventured out of Brummie country with a trip to gorgeous green Oxford and the art deco delights of Liverpool.

Almost the weekend...

This weekend I will be having coffee with my Gran-in-law, visiting our cats, attending Tobias' christening and first birthday (wow, that year went so fast) and celebrating my sister Tess' lovely boyfriend's birthday.

 

I love this Wintery weather but I hope it stays sunny for all of the celebrations. It's going to be a packed weekend and lots of fun!

Four x shows

I had a fabulous weekend visiting galleries and seeing shows.

I popped along to my cousin's exhibition opening at Oh Really Gallery, Enmore 'Interupted Focus', paintings by six artists. His work was of course the best (I may be biased but I also have an art history degree and have worked in the arts so I think my opinon counts for something!). I purchased a piece and can't wait to take the new addition home and add it to my collection.

 
Ad and I popped over to the Opera House to see Bell Shakespeare's production of 'Much Ado About Nothing'. It was enjoyable (not ground breaking) and it was great how we identified with the Italian elements of the play that this performance emphasised - it's amazing how travel can assist you with relating to different things!

Then it was off to some stand up comedy at the Comedy Store. Not really my thing but Ad persuaded me to go along with him and his friends. It was surprisingly ok and I laughed a fair bit!

On Sunday I visited White Rabbit Gallery with two of my lovely friends. It was so great to catch up over dumplings at the Teahouse and then wander through the amazing contemporary Chinese art. It is really difficult to fathom that it has all come from one family's collection.

Christmas wrap up

Christmas for another year is done and dusted. Here is a little peek at the several Christmas celebrations that Ad and I had a wonderful time attending.

Brand new little boy

We were so lucky to be in the UK when Ruth and William's little boy arrived. I met Tobias when he was brand new, only one day old.


Then we popped back to see him when he was three and a half weeks old.


Finally we had to say goodbye and head home to Australia when Tobias was seven and a half weeks.


Isn't it amazing how babies change so quickly. I think he is so cute and I am glad to have spent this special time with the new family and hanging out with new mum, Ruth!
