And we're off

Our first stop is Hong Kong.
Unfortunately there will be no shopping (well nothing big anyway) as our tiny packs are full to the brim. Our logic was to get small packs as we are catching internal flights throughout Europe which have small luggage allowances ummm it doesn't seem like the best idea now! Oh well at least after we have endured the below zero temperatures we can send our coats and thermals home which will empty our packs a bit.

Farewell Sydney - see you all in four months.

Adventure planning

Here is the itinerary so far:
  • Hong Kong
  • Trans Siberian railway - China, Mongolia, Russia
  • Helsinki
  • Turkey - Istanbul, Cappadocia, Kas, Pamukkale, Gallipoli
  • UK - London, South England, Birmingham, Edinburgh, North England
  • Berlin
  • Italy - Venice, Verona, Lake Como, Cinque Terre, Florence, Siena & Rome
  • Spain - Barcelona, somewhere on the Spanish coast, Granada, Seville, Cordoba & Madrid
There have been two great tv shows on over the past few days that have been on places that we are visiting! A documentary on The Great Wall of China and Kevin McCloud's Grand Tour which covered the architecture in Venice in last nights episode.

Wish us luck with the visa applications, flight and accommodation bookings, figuring out which backpack to buy, deciding whether to get an iPhone, purchasing travel insurance, selling our car, sorting out where our cats will live...

Start date

Our adventure next year has a start date. We have booked the first leg of our journey and will begin with an amazing and I think romantic trip on the Trans-Mongolian Railway!
